FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

We invite you to contact us, so we can walk you through any questions you may have.

WHAT INFORMATION WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW WHEN WE FIRST START WORKING TOGETHER ON A TRIP?

By asking yourself the following questions and providing us with the answers, we can get a better feel for the essence you seek on your next adventure: How do you want to feel on this trip, and when you come home? What do you value and prioritize? What are some past experiences you have loved and have not loved? Once you’re able to provide us with the information above, we will offer some ideas and start discussing the logistics.

DO YOU RECOMMEND TRIP INSURANCE?

Yes, always—you never know when you could miss a step, lose your luggage, or heaven forbid, have a family emergency. Even if you only opt for the extra medical coverage, travel insurance is always a good idea. We have a preferred provider that we work with that has been vetted in terms of service and terms.

WHAT ARE YOUR FAVORITE TRAVEL APPS?

Our favorite one is the Axus itinerary app, which is a collaborative tool that allows you to access all the travel arrangements we have booked for you. Currency and time converters are also extremely helpful. Be sure to download apps that work offline to avoid those international roaming fees. Lastly, the Google translate app has helped us solve many unclear moments abroad.

DO I NEED A VISA?

Please always check with the embassy's page and CIBT.com.  You never want to be surprised by this at the airport.

HOW SHOULD I TIP?

In most countries, it's custom to tip 10 percent. Nonetheless, here is an international tipping guideline to make sure you are informed and prepared. It's helpful to think about this in advance, so you can avoid awkward moments with your guide, driver, etc.

HOW DO I SIGN UP FOR AN INTERNATIONAL PHONE PLAN IN PREPARATION FOR MY TRIP?

International phone plans vary greatly by carrier and by the plan you currently have, so it's important to call your provider to find the best fit for you. Most mobile companies offer competitive plans these days. Also, don't forget that you can often use Skype, What's App or FaceTime if you have wifi access. These are easy to download and to use, and are very inexpensive or free.

DO I NEED VACCINATIONS?

This depends on your destination. Check with your doctor and the CDC to be sure.

DO I NEED TO BRING AN ELECTRICAL ADAPTOR?

Most luxury hotels will lend you one for your stay if they don't offer American plugs, but it's always helpful to have your own.

WHAT’S THE BEST SEAT ON THE PLANE?

It's personal! Be sure to check seatguru.com to make sure you have the most comfortable seat(s) for your journey.

WHAT SHOULD I DO IN AN EMERGENCY?

Sometimes flights are missed, baggage is lost, or the timing of an activity needs to change quickly. In an urgent situation, contact the relevant supplier noted on your itinerary or confirmation for immediate assistance. It is almost always quicker to reach out to your local contact (the local supplier, hotel, or airline) if you are in need of help. However, if you are not able to reach them, reach out to your travel designer or email escapes@travelstruck.com and a TravelStruck representative will respond as soon as possible.

If you are experiencing an airline delay and will miss your connection, or your flight has been canceled, please immediately go to the relevant airline's customer service team desk. It's often best to call if there is a line, as the phone customer service can sometimes help more quickly. They will be able to help you understand the options and rebook accordingly. If your flight changed and you will miss your airport transfer upon arrival, please call the supplier’s number that was included on your itinerary so you can provide the updated information.
